Adult Grief Support Groups

In addition to our Drew’s Hope program for children, teens and their families, the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation offers six different adult grief support groups. Most adult groups meet at the Drew’s Hope Grief Center, 946 Ashton Drive, Shippensburg, PA. To be added to our group email list and receive meeting information and alerts, please reach out to the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation.

Bereaved Spouse Support Group

Held the 1st Thursday of each month from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for bereaved individuals who are grieving the death of a spouse.

Please note: If childcare is needed, you must pre-register for the group so that we can have volunteers on hand to provide children’s activities during the adult meeting time.  Contact the DMTF at 717-532-8922 or [email protected].

GriefKnits Support Group

Held the 2nd Thursday of each month from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for adult grievers who are grieving the death of a loved one from any circumstance.

Knitting offers positive mental health benefits for grievers. Come and meet others who are grieving the death of a loved one and learn to knit too! If you’re a griever who already knows how to knit/crochet, bring your current project with you or bring another craft project!

Not crafty? That’s okay. You are welcome to gather with us for conversation and fellowship.

All materials are provided by the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation.

Healing Together Support Group

Held the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.  This education/discussion-based group is for any adult who is grieving the death of a loved one.  Participants include grieving spouses, parents, adults grieving the death of a parent, sibling, or other relative or friend from circumstances including illness, accident, overdose and suicide.

Bereaved Parents Support Group

Held the 4th Thursday of each month from 7 p.m – 8:30 p.m. for parents/guardians who are grieving the death of a child of any age, infant through adult.

“The Perfect Blend”

Coffee, crafting and conversation group.

This group meets every Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Drew’s Hope Grief Center. Gather with fellow grievers to work on any craft project you wish to bring. We have adult coloring books and puzzles for those who do not have their own craft projects. From time to time, we might even have a group craft project. Coffee/tea/snacks are provided.

Please contact the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation for more information. Pre-registration for all groups is appreciated so that our facilitators know how many people to expect and can provide meeting updates.

"Just One" Lunch Bunch

The “Just One” lunch bunch for bereaved spouses meets once a month at different restaurants throughout the area.  While meetings are usually held the fourth Friday of each month at 11:30 a.m., that time/date may change.  Interested participants are asked to contact the DMTF at 717-532-8922 or [email protected] to be added to the “Just One” Lunch Bunch email list.
