Grief Support Groups
In addition to our Drew’s Hope program for children, teens and their families, the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation offers six other grief support groups. Most groups meet at the Drew’s Hope Grief Center, 946 Ashton Drive, Shippensburg, PA. To be added to our group email list and receive meeting information and alerts, please reach out to the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation.
Held the 1st Thursday of each month from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for bereaved individuals who are grieving the death of a spouse.
Please note: If childcare is needed, you must pre-register for the group so that we can have volunteers on hand to provide children’s activities during the adult meeting time. Contact the DMTF at 717-532-8922 or [email protected].
Held the 2nd Thursday of each month from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for teen & adult grievers who are grieving the death of a loved one from any circumstance.
Participating in arts and crafts offers positive mental health benefits for grievers. Come and meet others who are grieving the death of a loved one. We can even teach you to knit too! Bring a craft project of your choice or use our supplies!
Not crafty? That’s okay. You are welcome to gather with us for conversation and fellowship.
All materials are provided by the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation.
Held the 3rd Thursday of each month from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. This group is for families that are grieving the death of a loved one. Participants include children, teen and adult grievers. This is a unique group as it is designed as a time of social connection for grievers to meet fellow grievers in order to foster positive, healing relationships with others that “get it”. Unless stated beforehand, there will be no set program or activities but rather a flexible time to converse, craft, play and simply connect. RSVPs are appreciated, but not required, to [email protected] or 717-532-8922.
Held the 4th Thursday of each month from 7 p.m – 8:30 p.m. for parents/guardians who are grieving the death of a child of any age, infant through adult. This education/discussion group will help you find validation, encouragement and support in the company of other grieving parents that “get it”. RSVPs are appreciated, but not required, to [email protected] or 717-532-8922.
This group meets every Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Drew’s Hope Grief Center, 946 Ashton Dr., Shippensburg. Gather with fellow grievers to work on any craft project you wish to bring. We have adult coloring books and puzzles for those who do not have their own craft projects. From time to time, we might even have a group craft project. Coffee/tea/snacks are provided.
Please contact the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation for more information. Pre-registration for all groups is appreciated so that our facilitators know how many people to expect and can provide meeting updates.
The “Just One” lunch bunch for bereaved spouses meets once a month at different restaurants throughout the area. While meetings are usually held the fourth Friday of each month at 11:30 a.m., that time/date may change. Interested participants are asked to contact the DMTF at 717-532-8922 or [email protected] to be added to the “Just One” Lunch Bunch email list.
